Brent M. Dingle, PhD

Algorithm Lead/Analyst | Innovative Signal Analysis

Drawing on nearly two decades of professional experience in systems architecture, engineering operations, and software engineering, Dr. Dingle excels as an algorithm lead and analyst at Innovative Signal Analysis, Inc. In this capacity, he utilizes expertise in advanced visualization, computer graphics, and computer science. Among his various projects, he investigates the intersection of traditional algorithms and artificial intelligence in image analysis, finds ways to enhance human perception and understanding through computer technologies, and strives to enable others to see and discover new things in innovative ways.

He previously performed many roles working for Raytheon, an RTX business. From 2007 to 2012, he primarily worked in simulations. Starting in 2016, he assisted in redesigning and updating Raytheon’s Immersive Design Center in Tucson, Arizona. In 2018, he moved to McKinney, Texas, where his team designed and built a new Immersive Design Center. While performing these roles, he was the lead on multiple projects and held a variety of titles, including Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, Systems Architect, and Consultant. His activities included designing and developing augmented and virtual reality applications, tools, and user interfaces. Beyond software development, Dr. Dingle mentored interns and oversaw hardware investigations, selection, configuration, and setup. He was also trained in project management, project leadership, laser scanning, and reality capture. From time to time, he also assisted in running corporate-wide hackathons.

In between positions at RTX, he worked as a software developer for Kihon Games, where he helped develop two released games. From 2013 to 2016, before returning to RTX, he worked as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he taught courses in mathematics, computer science, and game design and development.

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Dingle earned his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University, double majoring in computer science and mathematics. While earning this first degree, he mentored and tutored student athletes. He then entered the professional workforce as a software developer with Customer Development Corporation, where he gained valuable expertise in database design and Windows programming. Looking for greater challenges, Dr. Dingle expanded his professional knowledge by completing a master’s degree in mathematics and a PhD in computer science from Texas A&M University. During that time, he worked as a teaching assistant, a research assistant, a software engineer for Texas A&M’s Rec Center, a private tutor at the Tradition-At-Northgate student living complex, and as a lecturer for the Computer Science Department of Texas A&M University.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Dingle aligns himself with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). In recognition of his professional achievements, he earned a Program Excellence Award from Aviation Week Magazine in 2017 and an Excellence in Engineering Award from Raytheon Missile Systems the following year. In the ensuing years, he earned technical honors from Raytheon Intelligence & Space in 2019 and 2020.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Dingle takes the most pride in updating the architecture of a generic simulation framework for missile systems while working at Raytheon. He is also pleased with the gains achieved in the designing and developing of the immersive design centers, where he successfully integrated stereoscopic displays into large visualization systems controlled by a single computer. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his strong work ethic, friends’ support, and a dash of good fortune, Dr. Dingle plans to continue his work with college students and universities in the years to come.
